Description
Fort Nonsense is in Morristown, New Jersey, reached by a winding road behind the courthouse. On May 14, 1777, Washington ordered its construction for a retreat point for officers that remained garrisoned in Morristown after the Continental Army left Jockey Hollow. It was labeled Fort Nonsense afterwards by those who thought its purpose was to create busywork for the troops.
