The Arthur Kill is a 10-15 mile strait between Staten Island and New Jersey. It is a paradoxical place in which wildlife and tankers, the natural and industrial, coexist. It is steeped in history, and was the site of a major oil spill in the 1990s. It is an active recreational waterfront. This galley explores the contrasts and places that comprise the Arthur Kill.
