Artist's Description

This image, made some time ago, always intrigued me. The museum guard in the Louvre seemed, in surrealistic fashion, to have vanished into the wall and become a kind of artwork herself. In the straight photograph version, though, her crossed left leg is slightly blurred, as she was apparently moving it up and down. I felt the image still worked, but it bothered me. I employed the kind of manipulation I have been using in what I call contour photographs, and I think it is a better image. What was a defect in the straight photograph is not present here, and there is enough detail to make the subject readily accessible.
