Monumental size; history . . . the edifice worn by time . ..still sharp . .. the stylization of the figures in the pediment and door panels agains the blocks of stone wall . .. blank of all but texture ... The shadows! . . .The dark of door, panels disappearing into void of shadow, prefect line interrupted by stark contrast of a pale head, disembodied by shadow .. viewing the lady viewing the paper . . . somehow the newsprint in texture seems to fit with the textures of the worn marble . . . almost anachronistic . . to expect robes and clay water vessels . . . but so modern in overlay of currently ancient .. !
