The play on perspective between the distant tower and reach-out and touch-me street lamp is quite wonderful and serously artistic!

A sense of reality grounds it from too much whimsy and highlights the wonder of the scene.

This street scene both skillfully told story and contemplation in composition. The golden-gilt rims of a spiral tower rise in a graceful spiral form from among the homes and buildings at the end of the street. The image is composed such that a vacant streetlamp's curled base and sphere topped ornament seem to mirror the curl of the the spiral tower in the near distance, its apex capped with a golden sphere. Via the science of perspective, the knob sized patina-ed copper ball atop the unlit streetlamp and the massive golden ball atop the tower seem about the same size. Towards the horizon the sky brightens from a dark and moody gray cast into a robin's egg blue peeking between rolling white clouds as if to backdrop warmly colorful buildings and the texture of tiled rooves.
